Back within the shrieking silence, I hear you call my name.
One time is not enough really, for us to play this game.
I’m hoping for the next free entry, into somewhere else,
You’re watching me evaporate, I just can’t help myself.
This face is mine, and then it’s not. I wear it
For the day, and then it’s gone. Another mask goes on again,
I smile at you, but I’m not there. No,
Not at all, just in my head – a lot of thoughts,
A lot of dreads. A lot of things I left unsaid,
A lot of days I wish were dead.
It all is like a game we play, acting for the role
We choose that day. The mask it seems so paper thin,
The mirror a reflection of my skin. It shows me
Nothing but a wall, a wall I’ve built to stall you all.
Making the last bow, curtains and all,
But after that I seem to fall. Down and down and down I go,
I wonder if the world does know. That who I am is
not just me, but all the things I think and see.
