Photo Stimuli Work

There’s a meadow just on the outskirts of Blackoak town. If you search hard enough, you will find it, sitting silently as it waits for companions. No one really cares to visit it, is the sad thing. Over the years, it became so deserted that the flowers stopped growing and it become a sorry sight to say the least. For the past year and a half, Fabian had been visiting the meadow alone. He usually went early in the morning, when the sun was beginning to set. Before all the people had woken up, before the cars raced down the streets in a hurry, before the world had began to stir. Everyday, he had made sure the meadow stayed perfect, that the plants were being watered and kept tidy.

On his last day, he picked some daisies to keep with him on his journey. He thought to himself that when he wanted a breath of fresh air again, a breath of something real, he would take a look at those daisies again.

Leaving was strange, it felt like going home and leaving home all at once. Blackoak had been a type of home to him, but it also made him feel like a stranger. No. He had to leave. There was no doubt about it. Staring down at his suitcase as he entered the busy train station, he knew he had no choice but to continue now. The train would be leaving at six p.m. or earlier, if he was lucky. Everything was how it should be, in order for things to go correctly. Everything was in its place.

The screen flashed Platform 5 and he began to walk there, but not in a haste. In fact if anything, he was walking slightly slower than his usual confident stride. He quickened his pace for a moment so that he edged in the crowd of people subtly. Not one of his moves was out of place, not one of them was disconnected. From this position, he could see clearly now and if he kept his eye on the prize, he knew he might reach his objective quicker than expected.

The man about two metres distance from him was much smaller than him and stocky in build. He held a briefcase in his left hand and walked with a slight edge to the right. His hair had been scruffily hidden by a black hat and he too, was about to board the train at 6 p.m. on Platform 5. The only information Fabian had that perhaps none of the other passengers had was that this man was going to blow up the train station in approximately five minutes. Well he would, unless Fabian managed to intervene.
